About Global Awards

The World Giftedness Center (WGC) is one of the unique initiatives of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences to support best practices and distinguished efforts in gifted education, talent development, and related areas. The WGC aims to advance gifted education and provide support to different countries all over the world. It seeks to trigger a worldwide effort to help individuals enhance excellence. Through the offering of awards, for example, the WGC seeks to promote and disseminate the culture of excellence globally. Generally, the long-term objective of the WGC is to establish an interactive platform to serve the international community in nurturing gifts and talents and to disseminate the culture of best practice.

Applied Research Global Award of Talented Education

About the Award

In line with the continuous efforts and commitments of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences towards the enhancement of quality gifted education around the world, the World Giftedness Center has introduced the Applied Research Global Award of Talented Education. The launch of this award represents one of the unique initiatives of Hamdan Foundation to support global research in gifted education, talent development and related areas. It is offered to international scientists who have published outstanding and innovative research in the areas of giftedness and talent development, as well as areas related to these topics. The award honors scientists whose work has contributed to shape the research field and its future through scientific excellence. The submission should be research published in a journal with appropriate standards within the last two years as of the application’s point of submission.

Scope of the Award

This award aims to encourage international scientists who have reasonable quality research productions dedicated to support and foster gifted education, talent development and related areas.

Who is eligible to apply?

This award is intended for international researchers who have made significant contributions to gifted education, talent development and related areas.

Conditions

These conditions are pertinent to the principal investigator (PI) in the case of a group application


  1. The applicant should have reasonable research activities and publications of a higher quality.
  2. • The research should be relevant to the field of gifted education.
  3. • The research should be published or accepted for publication during the last two years as of the application’s point of submission.
  4. • The research should be published in a well-established and recognized international journal, which is included and indexed in major databases, including SCOPUS.
  5. • The research should be innovative and of outstanding quality.
  6. • The application form and any other supporting documents should be written in English.
  7. • Only English may be used for writing all research. A research paper written and published in any other language will not be considered for the award.
  8. • The research must not contain any sectarian, partisan, or political agenda.
  9. • The research is not fully or partially supported by Hamdan Foundation.
  10. • Any research used to apply for the award cannot be simultaneously used to apply for any other award of Hamdan Foundation.
  11. • Any winning research of the award cannot be used again in the future to apply for the same award or any other award of Hamdan Foundation.
  12. • Any attempt by the researcher or any supportive/associated individual to contact a member of the jury will result in the exclusion of the candidate from the award.
  13. • Hamdan Foundation reserves the right to take any disciplinary action such as withdrawing the award from the winners or suspending their candidacy to receive the award, if it later became clear that they had been involved in any activity that violates the conditions of the award.
  14. • The PI should be available for an interview upon request

Evaluation Criteria

In general, several issues will be considered during the evaluation process such as the research novelty/originality, innovative nature, outstanding quality, results based on appropriate methodology, published in a journal of a high standard, and the impact of the researcher’s work on giftedness research. It is also expected that the work of the researcher will contribute to shape the research of giftedness in the future. The submission should be research published in a journal with appropriate standards. In particular, the research will be evaluated based on the quality of the following components.


  1. Research problem and its importance to the area of giftedness.
  2. Theoretical framework and research questions.
  3. Methodology and research goals.
  4. Analysis & discussion of results, and their consistency with implications/recommendations.
  5. Research innovative aspects and originality.


Selection process

All eligible applications received by the stated deadline will be reviewed by an International Jury who are chosen for their high level of knowledge and experience in gifted education or related areas.

Award's Incentives

The winner will receive 25000 US Dollars, a certificate, a trophy, a round trip flight in economy class and accommodations to attend the honoring ceremony.


In the case of a group application, the award will be distributed according to each member’s contributions. The PI will only be invited to attend the honoring ceremony, and the award will be transferred after the ceremony.

School Global Award Initiative of Talented Education

About the Award

The launch of the School Global Award Initiative of Talented Education by Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences represented by the World Giftedness Center is one of its unique initiatives to support best practices and outstanding efforts in gifted education, talent development, and related areas. The main goal of the award is to stimulate global efforts to advance gifted education in schools and provide dynamic support for the community of gifted and talented learners. The award is mainly intended for outstanding school’s project or program. Public and private schools from K 1 to pre-university that have made eminent contributions serving the community of gifted and talented students may apply for this award.

Scope of the Award

This award primarily aims to encourage outstanding school’s initiatives and/or best practices (projects or programs) to provide rewarding education to gifted and talented students from K 1 through pre-university worldwide.

Who is eligible to apply?

This international award is intended for all public and private schools from K 1 through pre-university that have been developing and implementing exceptional projects or programs to serve gifted and talented students and contribute to the advancement of gifted education in general. A team from a school such as teachers, counselors and principals who participate in serving and supporting talented and gifted students may apply for the award on behalf of the school. A team leader may be the school principal or a senior team member who is familiar with the project or program that the school is planning to submit for the award consideration.

Conditions

The school principal is fully responsible for the authenticity and verification of all information and documents submitted, and for approving and signing the application form.


  1. Eligible public and private schools from K1 through pre-university, which have outstanding contributions may apply for this award.
  2. • The project or program should be relevant to the field of gifted and talented education.
  3. • All submitted documents should be written in English. Any document submitted in any other language will not be considered .
  4. • The submitted project or program should have been functioning for the last three years as of the application’s point of submission .
  5. • Obtaining an award or an appreciation certificate by the school for supporting and enhancing gifted education at the local or national level is an advantage .
  6. • The project or program is not fully or partially supported by Hamdan Foundation .
  7. • A project or program used to apply for the award cannot be simultaneously used to apply for any other award of Hamdan Foundation .
  8. • The winning project or program of this award cannot be used again in the future to apply for the same award or any other award of Hamdan Foundation.
  9. • The project or program must not contain any sectarian, partisan, or political agenda.
  10. • Any attempt by the team representing the school or any supportive/associated individual to contact a member of the jury will result in the exclusion of the applicant from the award.
  11. • Hamdan Foundation reserves the right to take any disciplinary action such as withdrawing the award from the winners or suspending their candidacy to receive the award, if it later became clear that they had involved in any activity that violates the conditions of the award.
  12. • The team representing the school should be ready to provide original documents, or any further documentation relevant to the submission to the evaluation committee members at any time.
  13. • The Hamdan Foundation reserves the right to use the content of the submission for publication, including but not limited to showcasing the work of the winners and sharing best practices with the wider community through various media channels and training materials


Evaluation Criteria

Submitted work will be evaluated based on the quality and impact of the contributions, as well as the professional responsibilities and ethical commitments of the school towards giftedness. The team representing the school should provide concrete evidence to support the contributions of the project or program. Describing and explaining what the project or program contributions are will not suffice and will not be fully considered in the selection process without providing clear and convincing proof for all claimed activities and practices. The evaluation committee reserves the right to request further documentation from the team representing the school at any stage of the evaluation process.


The description of the project may include the following essential points.

  1. • Project rationale (25 points)
  2. • Project Quality (25 points)
  3. • Project impact (35 points)
  4. • Professional responsibilities and ethical commitments towards giftedness (10 points)
  5. • Problems faced and project future-planning (10 points)


Selection process

All eligible applications received by the stated deadline will be reviewed by an international jury who are chosen for their prominent level of knowledge and experience in gifted education, talent development, or related areas.

Award's Incentives

The school winning the award will receive 25000 US Dollars, a certificate, a trophy, a round trip flight in economy class and accommodations to attend the honoring ceremony. The school principal or a representative will only be invited to attend the honoring ceremony.


The value of the award will be granted to the school represented by the school principal who may allocate 30% of the total amount for the future development of the project or program, and the rest 70% may be equally distributed among all team members. The award amount is transferred after the award ceremony
